Here is the SRD update

The newest version of CG....
was on the thumb drive I lost a couple months back.  Maybe daan will fix that link for the alpha testers, or make it available.

I din't get this from the redblade forum, but I did from another community.  I'm sure it a phishing attempt also.  Do not reply to it.

hmm, you may want to check to see if an update is available for your browser.  When I come to the site, the Forums with new posts have their Icon in color.  When you click into the forum, the threads with new posts have a "New" icon at the end of their name.  If you click the "New" icon, it will bring you to the newest posts.

I come here nearly every day, so I am not 100% sure if the "new" icon brings you to the first new post, or just the end of the thread.  I think it's the first new post though.

Hope that helps.
4  Non-Redblade Specific / General Discussion / Re: 4E and 3rd party tools on: April 22, 2009, 10:39:03 pm
I don't like 4E.  Reading the rules, I thought they were for an MMO, to the point of recommended party composition, and assigning each class to a role.  They just struck me as over simplified, and far to combat oriented.  I have no desire to play the 4E rules.

I'm not really surprised tools haven't been popping up for character creation.  In my opinion, the simplicity of the system would only be attractive to young inexperienced players.  Not the type of people that would put forth the effort to make a character creation tool.  That's my opinion, and I apologize if I offend.

As far as I can tell from your post you did everything correctly.  You've just fallen victim to one of redblades little quirks.  I had never even noticed this one to tell you the truth.  Generate a character, and it should show up on the generated character sheet.

Unfortunately, custom classes wouldn't fix the level 20 level limit.  That is a hard limit in the 3.5 generator.  Once it goes open source, I'm sure that limit will be one of the first things to be fixed.

After that, creating custom classes is fairly straight forward.

As for the language issue, that is much harder to fix.  A language file could be created and used, and probably will be among the first changes in the open source project, but that would only fix the buttons and menus.  The classes, items, spell names, etc. would all have to be manually changed, which is something you could do now if you want to spend the time.  You can do that in the campaign customization area.

You can also install PrimoPDF and "print" it to a PDF file.  Primopdf is available for free, I use it allot.  You can also just copy the HTML page to your thumbdrive, it will open in any browser.

None that I am aware of.  Sorry.

There is a Core_SRD campaign file available on the yahoo group and also a few other places that has the race "add-ons".

They are handled as classes.  So you can make a dwarf, then add the half-dragon template to it, and viola.

There is a difference between races and templates, the templates add-on as a class.

There are overrides available for pretty much everything in CG, so while it may not be built in to Redblade CG, you can enforce what rules you want there.

1. I'm not perticularly familiar with how spell points work, but I am sure the campaign file and Character sheet could be modified to show spell point cost, and the Characters and stats table could be modified for spell points instead of spells castable and bonus spells.  While possible, it will require extensive modifications.

2. It would be possible to remove the dice rolls for HP/Level and instead put in a number.  However, this would require allot of work and it would just be easier to override the rolled values with your own.

Currently there isn't a way to force the system to give max HP at first level, but this is such a common House Rule, I suggested that Daan include a way to make that happen.

That's in RedBlade CG, not Redblade 3.5, sorry I wasn't clear on that.

I'm one of the Alpha Testers for CG as well as the guy updating the SRD campaign file for the new generator.

I will see if I can find a place to do that in 3.5, but I think that skill point limits are hard coded there.

Well, with or without the forge will be up to Daan.  My impression is that he wants the public release to be as complete as possible, especially since the new version is more difficult to add items to.
13  Redblade CG (since 2006) / Redblade CG General Discussion / Re: when does srd come out on: April 13, 2007, 01:07:44 pm
I'm still completeing the SRD campaign file.  I just have psionic classes left to create.  Psionics has never been my cup of tea, so I'm being careful on these and it's going a little slow.   The other classes I think are done, except for a few things that I am not sure if it's a programming thing, or something I can change in the campaign file.  I have a feeling Daan is having to do some programming to allow me to make the necessary changes to the SRD to make the classes work correctly.  After that the SRD file should be complete and serious testing can be done.  Testing has been put on hold till we have a good campaign file.

We also still don't have a forge for Items, and I can't see a release without that.   We haven't even gotten a Alpha of the forge yet.  We can test the rest of the program without the forge, but I just don't see a release without the forge.

There are a few other issues that are relatively minor, and we might be able to get a release without, although I have a feeling Daan will want to have them all ironed out before there is an open Beta.

14  Redblade CG (since 2006) / Redblade CG Development / Re: Re: Need Statblock format suggestions for Redblade CG on: April 13, 2007, 12:54:53 pm
Daan as a fellow programmer who admires your work greatly would it be possible to have a menu option somewhere where that you could format the statblock as you like.  Maybe something like this for the original stat block.

%Type% (%Subtypes%)
Hit Dice: %hd% (%avg hp%)
Initiative: %init%
Speed: %spd% (%sqrspd% squares), fly %flyspd% ft. (%fly mnv%)

That way if I like original I can use it, if I like the new stat block, someone can easily figure that out and share it, if I want to roll my own with color coding maybe thats an option too.  But I know that would be alot of extra work, but something you might concider in your design, and I'd really hate to see you put it off longer.

I believe there is a way to create your own format for stat blocks.  I haven't played in that area of the program at all though, so I could be wrong.
15  Redblade CG (since 2006) / Redblade CG Development / Re: Which variant/house rules do YOU use? on: April 13, 2007, 12:53:27 pm
The abbility to overridescores, maybe even with a DM passcode, skillpoints, ranks hitpoint etc.

My players are allowed to rank 4 skills higher than PHB, this is not possible (yet) in RB3.5

Stats have always been able to be overrode, and I've mentioned to Daan previously about passcoding the ability.  We decided this is a little too draconian, if you can't trust a player, maybe you shouldn't play with them, instead we've discussed having a sheet that will indicate things that were changed away from the original rolls, and so the GM can see what players are doing.  We feel this is a good compromise.

As for the players being able to Rank skills higher, that is possible in CG, you'd just have to change the formula that limits it.
